Jingzhou, within 111°150—114°050 E,and 29°260—31°370 N,is located in hinterlandof Jianghan Plain, at the central and southern Hubei, with Yangtze river flowing across the whole region from the west to theeast, Wuhan located to the east, Yichang to the west, Changde of Hunan provinceon the south, and Jingmen and Xiangyang on the north.

 
Jingzhou has a geographic advantage with its location at the intersection of a national first level state land developing belt (along YantzeRiver) and second level state land developing belt (Beijing-Guangzhou and Jiaozui-Liuzhou Railway), 1000 kilometers away from the nation's four economic poles,i.e. Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing, respectively.

Jingzhou hasan increasingly accessible transportation. Fromthe east to west, there are Shanghai-ChengduHigh-speed Railway, Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway,State Road 318, and Jiangnan Expressway and Hongjian Expressway under construction. From the northto south, there are Erlianhaote-GuangzhouExpressway, Suizhou-YueyangExpressway, State Road 217, and the railway for transportation of coal from north to southChina. There is a 483 kilometers section of Yangtze Riverin Jingzhou, and the Yanka Port in Jingzhou is the third largest port only after Wuhan and Chongqing in the upper and middle reach of Yangtze River. Itonly takes 40 minutes from downtown Jingzhou to the ThreeGorges Airport, and 2 hours to Tianhe Airport in Wuhan.
